BERLIN ALLIANZ vs. SAN FRANCISCO OPTX

Dead or Alive 4 (FEMALE)
Opening up the Semi Final, the World Champion Dead or Alive Female, Vanessa, battled against the up and coming fan favorite Liefje, as Hitomi and Kokoro respectively on DWA Coliseum. Vanessa started the match off strong for her team, relentlessly punishing Liefje for three straight rounds, until Liefje came into the fourth round pounding and countering her way towards BERLIN’s first point. Vanessa quickly picked the slack back up, winning the fifth round, and won the sixth and final round, despite the fact that Liefje had brought her down to about 10% health before Vanessa hulked out and finished the game, 5-1.
FIFA 08
Second up for the night, Stermy battled against the nearly unstoppable Manyna as France and Brazil respectively. Manyna took an early lead, charging past Stermy’s defenders and firing off a goal at the 47 second mark. Manyna wasn’t done there, as he made the score 2-0 about forty seconds later. Manyna had taken the score to 3-0 by the time Stermy was able to get himself on the scoreboard, making the score 3-1 heading into half time. Stermy played hard in the second half, but was unable to equalize the lead made by Manyna. Manyna takes a 3-1 to the board for BERLIN.

The racers were up next, and the two teams put up quite the performance. The OPTX racers started at the back of the grid, battling their way to the front. Things were going fairly gentleman-like until a smash up left two racers literally driving backwards. Miximup had a small lead on YggdrasiL, which was compromised in the second lap at the corkscrew turns when YggdrasiL slammed into Miximup at full bore. Miximup was able to pull back out ahead, with YggdrasiL close in tow before Sackamonjaro plowed into the side of him, taking second. In the last lap, the BERLIN ALLIANZ racers managed to take second and third place, ending the race with Miximup in first, YggdrasiL in second, FinPro in third, and Sackamonjaro in fourth.
Dead or Alive 4 (MALE)
Next, former BERLIN ALLIANZ captain THE_TACTICAL, as Hayabusa, faced off against NinjaCW, as Gen Fu, on Temple on the Mountain. NinjaCW picked up two close rounds straight off of the bat, the Gen Fu mix up proving troublesome for THE_TACTICAL. Finally, after sending NinjaCW down the stairs, and catching an Izuna drop off of a counter, THE_TACTICAL was able to pick up a round for the ALLIANZ. NinjaCW replied with a devastating GREATEST round on THE_TACTICAL, before winning two more to end the game 5-1 for the OPTX.
Counter-Strike Source
Closing out the night, the ALLIANZ faced off against the OPTX, in a battle of the potentially devastating Counter-Strike Source squads. The OPTX began the first half off on offense as terrorist, charging up the banana towards the A bomb site, where clown picked up four frags to allow an OPTX win in the first round. The OPTX hit the A site again, where strong play from moE and GRT enabled a second round for the OPTX. The OPTX continued to waltz up banana and into the A site, taking the first half forcefully from the ALLIANZ, 6-3.
The teams then switched sides, heading into the second half with the OPTX on defense. The ALLIANZ made a slow move into the B bomb site, where solid positioning after the bomb plant enabled the ALLIANZ to take the first round of the half. The OPTX then went straight into the zone, winning three straight rounds in convincing fashion against the ALLIANZ at every side of the map. The OPTX found themselves at game point, 9-4, when the ALLIANZ finally made it into the A bomb site, but strong play from the ALLIANZ allowed them to stay alive for a few more rounds, making the score 9-6. Finally, the ALLIANZ made the mistake of hitting the B bomb site, where Blaze nearly clutched the round, but Warmach1ne’s experience bested the BERLINER. The OPTX closed the match off by winning the two remaining rounds, ending the game 12-6.
BIRMINGHAM SALVO vs. CAROLINA CORE

FIFA 08
Kicking off the second match, the SALVO’s Bazza faced off against the 2007 World Final FIFA star Anomaly, as France and Brazil respectively. Bazza had seemingly scored the first goal, but an offside calling kept the match at nil – nil. Despite a shot on goal that miraculously bounced off of the bar, the scoreless tie held through halftime. Shortly after the halftime, Anomaly charged the goal, barely beating the keeper out to take the 1-0 lead. Bazza battled back and forth through the midfield, but was unable to tie the match up, allowing Anomaly to narrowly avoid the dreaded penalty kicks. The CORE left the Soccer game with the 1-0 lead.
Counter-Strike Source
Moving into the shooter action, the CAROLINA CORE traded shots with the World renowned BIRMINGHAM SALVO. The CORE took defense first half as Counter-Terrorist on de_dust2. The SALVO took the first round by force, with pt stepping up to pick up three frags on the cat walk as the rest of his teammates moved into the A bomb site. The SALVO attempted to pull the same move twice, but the CORE shut it down quickly, making the score 1-1. The SALVO got back on a roll, with Mangiacapra winning a 1vs3 to make the score 3-1 in the SALVO’s favor. The SALVO seemed to be the strong favorite throughout the first half, but the CORE managed to pick up as few more rounds before the half time, ending the half at 5-4 for the SALVO.
The SALVO picked up the first round of the second half with a quickness, but amazing AWP work by devour during a 1vs2 enabled the CORE to steal the second round. Rattlesnk earned his share as a star player for the SALVO in the following round, fragging three CORE members as they ran up the cat walk into the A bomb site. The next round featured hijinks on account of both teams, when wez, as SALVO’s last man standing, managed to stare at the back of a CORE member who didn’t notice him for about thirty seconds. Needless to say, wez was fragged. The SALVO then began to win out, moving all the way to game point at 9-6 over the CORE. The CORE moved into A, getting the bomb planted in a 3vs2, but the SALVO were able to retake the site, defusing, and winning the game 10-6 at regulation. The team split the remaining rounds, ending the game at 11-7 for the SALVO.
Dead or Alive 4 (FEMALE)
Next up, the Females stepped up, with SarahLou as Kasumi taking on Mystik as Hayate on Kyoto in Bloom. SarahLou started the first round off by absolutely opening up on Mystik, destroying her with teleport parries and the cartwheel kick launcher. They battled back and forth, with SarahLou genuinely out-classing Mystik, until Mystik began abusing SarahLou repeatedly with a rising kick string. After some tight play, SarahLou moved into game point position, 4-3, but choked up, allowing Mystik to slowly take the round with well placed punishes. SarahLou looked to have had the final round, taking Mystik into the water below, but Mystik was able to keep herself afloat, taking the game 5-4 for the CORE.
FORZA Motorsport 2
The race started off quickly, with Picaso taking an early lead of a tightly wrapped pack of drivers. General E Live was hot on his tail, but fell short after a collision, dropping back to third place, giving the SALVO first and second place. General E Live attempted a take-out on Daveyskills, but whiffed painfully, putting the CORE in a bad position. General E Live finally got a piece of Daveyskills, allowing Phantom to move into second place. The finishing order of the race favored the SALVO, with Picaso in first, Phantom in second, Daveyskills in third, and General E Live in fourth.
Dead or Alive 4 (MALE)
In the heavy final game of the match, Mr. CGS himself was faced with brutal odds, needing to win 5-0 over Messy, just to tie the overall match. Essentially, Offbeat Ninja entered the match, needing to win 6-0 to allow the CORE to enter the World Final match against the SAN FRANCISCO OPTX. Offbeat Ninja, as Ein, entered the first round against Messy, as Gen Fu, on Gamblers Paradise, looking extremely nervous. Messy took an early advantage, looking as if he had both the round and the match won, but Offbeat Ninja’s tight grab game was able to keep the CORE above water. It looked as if fate was just barely keeping CAROLINA CORE in the match, with little things such as a random car changing lanes toward Messy, or a missed juggle opportunity, pushing Offbeat Ninja towards a 3-0 score. Offbeat Ninja charged through the 5-0, heading into the single overtime round to send either the SALVO or the CORE into the World Final. Messy charged into the Overtime round with an absolute onslaught of attacks, shutting down any hope of another North American World Final. The SALVO walk away from the match after Messy’s overtime round win, 21-20.
