It’s the third week of the Mailbag, and that means two things. First, we’re continuing the speaking rotation. In the first edition of the Mailbag, we asked the fans a question. In the second edition, fans posed questions to me (more on this in a bit), and now it’s time for us to ask you another question.
That means it’s time for you, dear fans, to once again put on your writing hats. Or your writing shoes. Whatever works for you is fine by us.
This week’s question is: Momentum plays a role in any, and every, sport. How much of an effect, if any, does the game order (e.g. FIFA plays first, DoA Male plays second, etc.) in a CGS match have on determining the eventual victor?
Send your responses to mailbag@thecgs.com with the title Fan Voice, Question Two.
As for the questions you asked, we’re keeping the submissions open for another week because, well... the rush to e-mail LANDodger with bizarre or pertinent questions wasn't as much of a rush as a slow, slow, trickle.
So, if you want something answered you can still send the questions in to mailbag@thecgs.com with the subject CGS Mailbag. Or, feel free to send me the question via a private message on the site. Regardless, just make sure you include your name, location, and handle.
And, for those of you that might be a little gunshy, I went ahead and asked myself a hypothetical question to get you “in the mood.” As you’ll see, your question doesn’t have to tackle life’s most difficult problems. It doesn’t even need a firm tether to eSports. It's meant to be fun, so have fun with it. Here’s the question I came up with for … myself.
Q: Who would win a battle royale between LANDodger, Weenus, and DrDogg?
First of all, I can guarantee that it won’t be me. There are more than a few reasons for this.
A) I’m skinny.
B) I have a high center of gravity, which means I’m easier to topple than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
C) I’m not usually overwhelmed by feelings of bloodlust.
D) And, if that’s not enough, I’m completely untrained in any method of fighting. The only thing I can defend myself against are verbal assaults. And something tells me the “fight” isn’t going to be a rap battle or, better yet, a debate about grammar. Although, maybe those are questions for another time.
In any event, I’m definitely out of the picture.
That leaves my esteemed colleagues, weenus and DrDogg. Despite clearly being a dog-eat-dog world, I’d have to go with weenus on that one. He’s got the “scrappy” look to him. I don’t mean to question his scruples, but if he gets knocked down, I think he’ll grab a handful of dirt while he’s down there so he can throw it in your eyes.
Plus, who wouldn’t love to see a weenus “I just won a fight and I’m totally hardcore” celebration? Would he stand over his fallen opponent, muttering “done-zo?” Would he walk off the stage with a bad-ass grin on his face, and a trickle of blood running down his cheek? I’m not sure, but I’d root for him just on the outside chances of seeing either of those happen.
And if that wasn’t enough, he loves MMA so there’s always a chance he has a practice room in his house, just in case an opportunity like this ever came along.
Send your questions to mailbag@thecgs.com with the subject line CGS Mailbag.

I think Dr. Dogg might have the advantage simply because he understands every form of fighting.. from Tekken to DOA to SC.. weenus would be hard pressed to compete.

I don't know that the order of games helps. I think because of the scoring in "Fifa" & "Forza" they shouldn't be the last. I've seen a bunch of matches where it was decided last minute by CS:S or a DOA match. I think it depends on the teams and the players.
I like that they 'break-up' the early parts of CS:S with DOA- it builds tension so when you get to CS:S if already off to a running start and you're more into seeing the outcome. ![]() I'm a part-time god!...it's a growth industry. |

Well i do play FIFA every day and when i get a good load of momentum going the opposition don't win the ball off me and i have much more possession and usually grab quite a few goals
