1. What is the CGS 2008 European Qualifier and Draft?
The CGS 2008 European Qualifier and Draft is a live event where players will showcase their skills for the world and the two CGS EU General Managers in hopes of being selected to become CGS Team members. The purpose of the Qualifier is to give General Managers an opportunity to evaluate and meet everyone who is interested in joining the league.

Participants in the Qualifier will compete in structured tournaments, be asked to take part in Challenge Matches by the General Managers, test their reflexes using the proprietary H2i reflex-evaluation software and interview with the General Managers, who will use all of these factors to evaluate the potential of the players.

Immediately following the Qualifier, the 2008 CGS European Draft will proceed in the great tradition of all major sports-league drafts. Each GM will have a chance to sequentially pick new players for their respective teams from the pool of Qualifier participants. Decisions will solely be made by the GMs in their discretion.

Prize Distribution

All following amounts are the totals to be paid to the combined player pools from the EU and UK.

Grand Total: €35,000

2. Where is the CGS 2008 European Qualifier and Draft?
The Qualifier and Draft will be hosted at the Omega Sektor Centre in the Birmingham City Centre complex in Birmingham, UK.

3. When is the CGS 2008 European Qualifier and Draft?
Participants should check in at the event on Friday, May 16, 2008, beginning at 10AM at the main entrance to the Omega Sektor Centre. More information on participant check-in will be provided in the Event Packet, to be distributed to all registered attendees prior to the event.

Participant travel arrangements should include the flexibility to stay in Birmingham through Thursday, May 22, 2008, since drafted players will be required to take part in player orientation and the filming of TV features through the evening on May 21.

4. What games will be used for the Championship Gaming Series 2008 Season?
The games selected for use by CGS for the 2008 season include:
Counter-Strike:Source
Dead or Alive 4
Forza 2
FIFA 08

5. Who can participate in the CGS 2008 European Qualifier and Draft?
All participants must first meet certain eligibility requirements before being able to participate in the Qualifier and Draft. Those requirements include:

  1. Player must be 18 years old or older by May 16, 2008 (except citizens and residents of Monaco, who must be 21 years old or older).
  2. Player must be a citizen or legal resident of a country of Europe (with the exception of the United Kingdom) and must have lived in Europe for six consecutive months prior to the event.
  3. A player must have no criminal convictions and must not have undertaken any past act or conduct which could negatively impact the reputation of CGS.
  4. A player must be able to sign an exclusive Player Services Agreement with PVG Services, Ltd., the service provider to CGS, and to fulfill the obligations of the Player Services Agreement.

Players meeting the above eligibility requirements and wishing to compete in Dead or Alive 4 (Xbox 360), Forza 2 (Xbox 360), or FIFA 08 (PC) need only register on the CGS website to participate.

Pre-qualification is NOT required to participate in the Qualifier for these games.

Registration is subject to availability, with the following limitations:

16 team slots for Counter-Strike:Source
32 player slots for DoA4 Male players
16 player slots for DoA4 Female players
32 player slots for FIFA 08 players
64 player slots for Forza 2 Motorsports players

Registration to compete in the Qualifier is free, and there are no fees to enter this event.

Counter-Strike: Source players may participate either as five-person teams or as individuals.

Prior to registering to participate in the Qualifier and Draft, Counter-Strike:Source players must acknowledge that players may be drafted individually, rather than as a five-person squad, and that a player must be willing to be drafted individually in order to participate in the event. Any player who participates in the Qualifier and Draft, and is drafted by a General Manager, but then refuses to join the CGS team as an individual, will forfeit any future eligibility to participate in the Championship Gaming Series.

6. What does it mean to be Drafted?
A drafted player will be invited to sign a PVG Player Services Agreement to become an official professional member of a CGS team. General terms of the Player Services Agreement will be provided in the Event Packet distributed prior to the event. Any player not willing or able to accept the terms of the Player Services Agreement is ineligible to participate in the CGS 2008 European Qualifier and Draft.

Drafted players have other duties and responsibilities in addition to competing in CGS events. A player should consider his/her ability and willingness to commit the time and effort necessary to be a productive member of the team.

Drafted players will earn monthly compensation and have the opportunity to compete for additional prize money including a top team prize of $500,000 at the CGS 2008 World Final in Los Angeles.

7. Why is it important to attend this event?
CGS is the only worldwide professional video gaming league. It represents a revolution in competitive gaming. For the first time ever, pro video gamers have the opportunity to play for teams based in major cities around the globe and their matches are broadcast in high-definition to more than 350 million viewers in North America, Latin America, Europe, the UK, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

In order for a resident of Europe to qualify to become a CGS pro athlete in 2008, gamers must qualify at the European Qualifier and Draft at the Omega Sektor Centre in Birmingham, UK. Players will have an opportunity to showcase their personal character and skills to the European General Managers and league officials. This is an opportunity for gamers to gain true professional recognition for their talent and dedication, play with their peers at the highest level of gaming competition, and have the drama of their athletic competition broadcast to every corner of the world.
