1. What is the North America Region Combine and Draft?
The CGS North American Combine is a live gaming event where players will showcase their skills for the world and the six North American General Managers in hopes of being selected as a member of one of the six CGS North American teams: Los Angeles compLexity, New York 3D, Chicago Chimera, Carolina Core, San Francisco Optx, and Dallas Venom. The purpose of the Combine is to give General Managers an opportunity to evaluate and meet everyone who is interested in joining the league.

Participants in the Combine will compete in structured tournaments, be selected to take part in Challenge Matches by the General Managers, test their reflexes using the proprietary H2i reflex-evaluation software and interview with the General Managers, who will use all of these factors to evaluate the potential of the players .

Immediately following the Combine, the 2008 North American Draft will proceed in the great tradition of all major sports-league drafts. Each GM will have a chance to sequentially pick new players for their respective teams from the pool of Combine participants. Decisions will solely be made by the GMs and will be based on the Combine outcome.

2. Where is the North America Region Combine and Draft?
The Combine and Draft will be hosted in the ScreenBurn Arcade at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas.

3. When is the North America Region Combine and Draft?
Participants should check in at the event on Friday, March 7, 2008, beginning at 11AM CST. More information on the specific location of participant check-in will be provided in the Event Packet, to be distributed to all registered attendees prior to the event.

Participant travel arrangements should include the flexibility to stay in Austin through Monday, March 10, 2008, since drafted players will be required to take part in orientation and other follow-up activities until approximately 12:00 PM that day.

4. What games will be used for the Championship Gaming Series 2008 Season?
The games selected for use by CGS for the 2008 season include:

Counter-Strike:Source
Dead or Alive 4
Forza 2
FIFA 08

5. Who can participate in the North America Region Combine and Draft?
All participants must first meet certain eligibility requirements before being able to participate in the Combine and Draft. Those requirements include:

A. Player meets the following age requirements:
A.1. If a resident of Alabama or Nebraska, player must be at least 19 years old.
A.2. If a resident of Mississippi, player must be at least 21 years old.
A.3. If a United States resident of a state other than Alabama, Nebraska or Mississippi, player must be at least 18 years old.
A.4. If a resident of Canada in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Quebec, player must be at least 18 years old.

D. A player must be available to sign an exclusive services agreement with CGS without potential for that agreement to violate or conflict with any other agreement into which the player has entered.

Players meeting the above eligibility requirements and wishing to compete in Dead or Alive 4 (Xbox 360), Forza 2 (Xbox 360), or FIFA 08 (PC) need only register on the CGS website to participate.

Qualification is NOT required to participate in the Combine for these games.

Players may register here on the CGS website.

Registration is subject to player slot availability, with the following limitations:

32 player slots for DoA4 Male players
16 player slots for DoA4 Female players
16 player slots for FIFA 08 players
64 player slots for Forza 2 Motorsports players

Registration to compete in the Combine is free, and there are no fees to enter this event.

Counter-Strike: Source players may participate either as five-person teams or as individuals. Due to high demand, the 16 total CSS team slots will be allocated as follows:

A. 6 team slots are reserved for the current Counter-Strike:Source squads of the 6 North American teams: Los Angeles compLexity, New York 3D, Chicago Chimera, Carolina Core, San Francisco Optx, and Dallas Venom; .
B. Each of the six CGS North American General Managers will select a five-person team to invite, based upon their own scouting reports and analyses.
C. Team XFX has received an invitation as the result of a prior competition.
D. The top three five-person teams of a CGS online tournament will receive also receive league invitations. Details of the online tournament will follow shortly.

General Managers may additionally invite individual Counter-Strike:Source players to participate.

Prior to accepting an invitation to participate in the Combine and Draft, Counter-Strike:Source players must acknowledge and accept the terms of the Counter-Strike:Source draft process which states that players may be drafted individually, rather than as a five-person squad, and that a player must be willing to be drafted individually in order to participate in the event. Any player who participates in the Combine and Draft, and then is drafted by a General Manager, but then refuses to join the CGS team as an individual, will forfeit any future eligibility to participate in the Championship Gaming Series.

If you and/or your Counter-Strike: Source squad has been invited to participate, you will be contacted by a league official with instructions on completing a private registration.

6. What does it mean to be Drafted?
A drafted player will sign a CGS Player Services Agreement and becomes an official professional member of a CGS team. General terms of the Player Services Agreement will be provided in the Event Packet distributed prior to the event. Any player not willing or able to accept the terms of the Player Services Agreement is ineligible to participate in the CGS 2008 North American Combine and Draft.

Drafted players have other duties and responsibilities in addition to competing in CGS events. A player should consider his/her position on a CGS team as a full-time responsibility for the term for which they are under agreement, and consider whether he/she is willing to commit the time and effort necessary to be a productive member of the team.

Drafted players will earn monthly compensation and have the opportunity to compete for additional prize money, including a top team prize of $500,000 at the CGS 2008 World Final in Los Angeles.

7. Why is it important to attend this event?
CGS is the only worldwide professional video gaming league. It represents a revolution in competitive gaming. For the first time ever, pro video gamers have the opportunity to play for teams based in major cities around the globe and their matches are broadcast in high-definition to more than 350 million viewers in North America, Latin America, Europe, the UK, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.

In order for a resident of the U.S. and Canada to qualify to become a CGS pro athlete in 2008, gamers must qualify at the North American Combine and Draft at the SXSW Interactive Festival’s Screenburn Arcade in Austin, TX. Players will have an opportunity to showcase their personal character and skills to the North American General Managers and league officials. This is an opportunity for gamers to gain true professional recognition for their talent and dedication, play with their peers at the highest level of gaming competition, and have the drama of their athletic competition broadcast to every corner of the world.

There are a few things lingering yet to be answered. Will there be any sort of online qualifier for Forza 2? This information would be nice so people can arrange travel accomodations before its too late.
